I’m about to get a little nerdy here… so brace yourselves! haha
Cole and I have always been into board games- a matter of fact it’s probably one of the few hobbies that we share together! haha We enjoy playing them with our family and friends so much and try to get together for a game night at least once or twice a month. Not to mention we play at home just us two! Since we play so much we like to have a good variety of games to play that way we don’t get bored with any of our games.
I thought I would share these games that we love since Christmas is right around the corner. I tried to choose ones that I hope most people haven’t heard about already. I selected our 3 favorites- one 2 player game (perfect for date night!), One that is great for a small group, and another that is best with a large group! These might be the perfect gift for someone on your list this year.
7 Wonders Duel
This is our most recent purchase and we LOVE it. For awhile we had been on the search for some great two-player games that way we would have something to do together at night other than watch TV.
They have the full version of the game- but this one is specifically made for just two people. Basically you go through three ages of time and race to win by one of three ways:
- Invading your opponent’s capital
- Achieving a monopoly on scientific advancement
- Winning the most victory points
If you are a competitive couple that enjoys strategic games then this is the game for you- Cole and I definitely looovve this game! You can find it on Amazon here.
This game has endless possiblities- with over 45 games and additions you can play this so many different ways. You can mix any of the decks. Every game has pretty much the same set of rules and they come with a little flair. So each time you buy a new deck you don’t have to re-learn the game!
For example- we have Munchkin Zombies and Munchkins Marvel. You can play both games by themselves or you can mix the deck and fight Marvel villains AND Zombies. We also have an addition that you can’t play by itself but adds a little flair to the game.
It’s worth checking out since they have so many different versions like Harry Potter, Dragons, X Men, and more. You can find the original game here. (You don’t need the original to be able to play any of the others.)
The Voting Game
This game is best played with a big group of people- you can have up to 10 players! We love to play this with our big friend group when we all get together. It’s not too serious and is best played if everyone loves to joke with one another! haha
It’s similar to apples to apples. Everyone gets a number that represents them. Then each person will take turns drawing a prompt then everyone votes with the numbers who they would choose. The person with the most votes gets the card. I always get voted the first to die in a zombie apocalypse and honestly…. I totally would! Get it on Amazon here.
