Get ready to capture the magic of your family with your little 2-year old star! Ever heard of the “terrible twos”? Well, personally I like to focus on the positives of two year olds! They are so full of personality and independence! Not to mention it’s one of the cutest ages! Here are some pro tips to make your family photo session fun, relaxed, and truly memorable:
1️⃣ Embrace the Fun: Remember, the best family photos are those filled with joy and laughter. So, let loose and have fun during the session. Your positivity will reflect in the pictures! Don’t get on your kiddo too much! I expect them to be a bit cranky or stubborn- that comes with the age! haha
2️⃣ Music to the Rescue: Consider having your toddler’s favorite song playing in the background during their portraits. It’ll keep them happy and engaged! Think Baby Shark or a Daniel Tiger song!
3️⃣ Be Affectionate: Show your love during the session. Hold hands, kiss foreheads, snuggle up close. These natural gestures create warm and genuine family photos. Of course, only if they allow you to! haha
4️⃣ Plan Ahead: Prepare special snacks or a reward for when you’re done. Planning supper ahead of time can also help reduce stress on the day. A hangry two year old is a recipe for a tough photoshoot!
5️⃣ Avoid Unwanted Props: If there are toys or books that you don’t want in the photographs, it’s best to leave them at home. Keep the focus on your family and the love you share. In studio, I do have aesthetic toys they can use.
6️⃣ Let Your Toddler Be Busy: Embrace your toddler’s energy! Let them explore and be themselves. Their natural curiosity can lead to some beautiful candid shots. These have often turned out as my favorite photos from an entire session!
7️⃣ Keep Expectations Flexible: Toddlers can be unpredictable, and that’s okay! Don’t stress about getting the perfect shot. Sometimes, the most cherished photos are the unexpected ones.
Remember, you’re creating memories that will last a lifetime. So, enjoy the process, and let’s celebrate your family’s unique story together!
